About Us

Clendon Medical Centre evolved from a local solo GP practice to a Multiple GP
practice in a purpose built medical centre that also houses a laboratory facility, dentistry and physiotherapy services.

The practice is located close to several schools and a large shopping
complex.

Public health nurses are located close by with whom we have an excellent
working relationship and a Counties Manukau DHB midwife holds a
clinic in the building twice weekly. We also have a free dietician
clinic which is held for patients every two weeks.

The building was opened in 1985 by the then Minister of Health Dr Michael
Bassett and at the time was unusual in that it was an integrated
health centre with multiple disciplines under the one roof. The
building has been developed over the years to accommodate changing
needs. Most recently there has been expansion of the nursing areas to
allow enhanced nursing roles and duties.

The practice has a population of approximately 8800 patients of mixed
ethnicity, the majority being Maori and high needs patients.

We are committed to VLCA funding when the opportunity presented itself and
we endeavour to minimise fees as a barrier to accessing medical care.

It is anticipated with the expansion of community delivery of medical
services we will be well positioned to enhance our services and the
building has space for future development.

We are heavily involved with chronic care management and see exciting
opportunities to expand this in the future.

Services

  • Well Baby Checks

  • Babies are checked periodically during their first year of life to ensure that they are developing correctly. The first appointment is usually a few days after the mother and child have returned home after the birth, then a fortnight later, then monthly up to four months then at six, nine months and at a year. Babies are weighed and measured to make sure that they are arriving at the various developmental milestones.
Apart from checking an infant’s physical and emotional growth, these sessions provide a great opportunity for parents to ask questions from an expert and have any problem addressed; difficulties with breastfeeding or sleep for example. They are also used to discuss immunisations and vaccinations.
