I was born in the early 80's, nearly 3 metres below sea level in a town near Amsterdam. Some years later I decided to become a doctor, and I finished my studies in Amsterdam. I have worked in Ghana (West Africa), St Martain (Carribean), Surinam (South America) and all around the Netherlands. I married an Estonian lady and we had 2 children, both boys, now 5 and 6 years old. Inner city Amsterdam is no place for little and a bit bigger boys who like to play outside, so we decided to move. My wife had been to NZ 10 years ago, but it was all new to me. My wife showed me the photo's, so NZ it was going to be! I googled 'most sunshine hours in NZ' and Motueka came up high. It has been the luckiest thing that happened in our lives! I found a practice, now called 'The Doctors', with the best team I have ever worked with. All enthusiastic professionals working very hard on high quality primary health care for their patients and the community. I have a special interest in skin cancer and skin surgery, and the NZ sun and associated skin damage has helped me develop my surgical skills further. After work I like to play outside, ride Kaiteriteri MTB park with dr Richard Fuller (better have a doctor with you there...), go kite surfing, fish, go to Rabbit Island and all regional skate parks with my boys, and go camping with my family. I am not leaving here, life is good!
